Directed by the legendary Zoltan Korda (Jungle Book, Thief of Bagdad), THE FOUR FEATHERS is the story of one man’s redemption following an act of cowardice. Born into a distinguished military family, Harry Faversham (John Clements – Gandhi, Oh! What A Lovely War) joins the army with three close friends – John Durrance (Ralph Richardson – Richard III, Things to Come), General Burroughs (C. Aubrey Smith – Rebecca, Kidnapped) and Thomas Willoughby (Jack Allan – The Army Game, Spy for a Day) but being newly-engaged decides the army life is not for him and resigns his commission.

Each of his friends sends him a white feather – the sign of cowardice, and he receives a fourth plucked from the fan of his fiancé, Ethne (June Duprez – And Then There Were None, Thief of Bagdad). Realising he has bought shame and disgrace to his family, he sets out alone to the distant war to redeem himself in the eyes of his friends.

A stunning adventure story based on A E W Mason’s iconic novel, and set against the backdrop of the 1898 Battle of Omdurman in the Sudan, THE FOUR FEATHERS is a bold military epic that makes full use of the emergent Technicolor process, and was nominated for Best Colour Cinematography at the 1940 Academy Awards.

Special Features on THE FOUR FEATHERS are:

• Archive interview with Ralph Richardson on Russell Harty in 1973
• Image gallery
• Theatrical trailer

Featuring a score by the Oscar-winning Miklos Roza (Ben-Hur, Julius Caesar), sweeping battle scenes and tightly constructed script, THE FOUR FEATHERS is a triumph of British cinema, and will appeal to all fans of adventure films like Zulu and King Solomon’s Mines.
